In September 2020 at a virtual scientific forum at Kansas State University, an FDA official acknowledged there is “no clear evidence indicating that grain-free foods with pulse ingredients are inherently dangerous for dogs”. This has been quietly conceded, not broadly communicated, but this is the latest information. He also said that the FDA will offer additional updates if or when more “substantial scientific information” becomes available.
DCM Update July 2022:
We've learned from an FDA representative that there has been no proof that grain-free foods are causing DCM. Apparently, this article suggests this continues to be an ongoing investigation. Please be assured that our pawTree grain-free dog food recipes meet the taurine requirements the FDA is recommending due to their findings. We will continue to monitor and comply with additional recommendations the FDA requests in the future for the safety of our pets.
Thanks!
