In the words of the founder, Roger Morgan..."When I founded pawTree®, I had no previous experience in direct sales or multi-level marketing. Some people know direct selling as an amazing industry/sales channel that provides incredible opportunities for entrepreneurship, self-improvement, flexibility, income, empowerment, and more. Others feel direct selling selling has an "ick" factor because they don't know much about it or because they had a negative experience from the past and say, oh, it's one of 'those' companies. I didn't necessarily have a positive or a negative view about the direct selling industry, and initially I didn't set out to create a direct selling company. Rather, I set out to create solutions for millions of pets and their pet parents, and the best solution led me to direct selling. Here's how it happened. After identifying a need for better nutrition for pets, and creating the algorithm and customized and personalized approach to pet nutrition, I was contemplating how to best bring this new company to market. I knew that pet food is among the most brand loyal of all consumer products--meaning people don't randomly change their pet food just because they see an internet ad or see it in a store. So I knew that putting the product on a retail shelf or blasting a bunch of Google ads at people wasn't going to be enough motivation to encourage trial. I also knew, however, that if people would "just try it" they would experience the pawTree® difference and they would never go back to the old way.So the dilemma, how do you get a bunch of people (who are loyal to what they're already doing) to try something they've never heard of?Not easy!I also knew from pet industry research that generally to get someone to change their pet's food it requires a recommendation from one of these two resources: 1) Their vet, or 2) someone they know and trust. Recommendations! We do it naturally in most parts of our life...when you see a good movie you tell others they should see it. When you eat at a good restaurant you recommend it to others. So I thought to myself, who are some of the best companies at motivating and rewarding people to go out and recommend products to their friends and family and people they know? And then it hit me...there's already a $36+ billion industry that has been doing this 'word of mouth' marketing remarkably well for many decades...the direct selling / MLM industry. So I talked to some very reputable direct selling companies and executives to learn the do's and don'ts and immersed myself in the industry. The more I learned, the more I liked what I saw. From a business perspective, I believe it's the only sales model I could have used to bring this amazing pawTree® concept to the world. And personally, today I'm a better person for it--it's an incredible industry filled with incredible people.I couldn't be happier that pawTree® led me to direct selling. I'll never look back."
